Granite City Food & Brewery Continues Expansion with Omaha Opening

MINNEAPOLIS, October 17, 2006 — Granite City Food & Brewery Ltd. (Nasdaq:GCFB) a Modern American upscale casual restaurant, has opened a new restaurant in Omaha, Nebraska. The new restaurant is located at Westroads Mall at 102nd and Dodge.

"This is the second restaurant we've opened in Nebraska. We are extremely pleased to be located next to an incredible mall that will draw visitors from throughout the Omaha area. We are confident that our attractive concept will allow us to prosper in the growing Omaha market," commented Steve Wagenheim, Granite City's CEO and President.

Granite City is open daily for lunch, dinner and gatherings from 11:00 am to 1:00 am and offers a buffet brunch on Sundays.

Granite City Food & Brewery Ltd. currently operates 16 Granite City Food & Brewery upscale casual dining restaurants featuring a broad menu of popular made-from-scratch food items and handcrafted beers. Its broad menu offers traditional and regional foods served in generous portions at reasonable prices, affording guests an excellent value and great dining experience. The first Granite City restaurant opened in St. Cloud, MN in June 1999 and the Company subsequently expanded to other Midwest markets. The Company also operates a beer production facility which is used to provide raw material support to its restaurants to create operational efficiencies.
