Granite City Sets Opening Week Sales Record
Company Regards First Week in Minneapolis Huge Success

MINNEAPOLIS, June 30, 2004 - Granite City Food & Brewery Ltd. (Nasdaq: GCFB) today reports record sales of $122,700 at its Maple Grove, Minnesota location during the opening week of operations.

"We are extremely pleased with the performance of our first major market operation," said Steve Wagenheim, Granite City Food & Brewery's President and CEO. "While this performance excites us, it does not come as a surprise, as we feel we have the right product for any size market. We have always said the Granite City concept has 'legs'," said Wagenheim, "the initial performance in the Minneapolis market confirms our belief that this concept is readily accepted in various market types. We are pleased to serve a broad customer base and are looking forward to expanding more aggressively in major markets as well as second-tier markets."

Granite City Food & Brewery Ltd. currently operates eight Granite City Food & Brewery casual dining restaurants featuring made-from-scratch food and handcrafted beers. Its broad menu offers traditional and regional foods served in generous portions at reasonable prices, affording guests an excellent value and great dining experience. Its first Granite City location, in St. Cloud, MN, opened in June 1999. Subsequently, the Company opened restaurants in Sioux Falls, SD, Fargo, ND, West Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and Davenport, IA, Lincoln, NE, and Maple Grove, MN.
