Fargo Site in Region's Top Retail and Commercial Area; Restaurant/Micro-Brewery Features Beers Handcrafted by World-Renowned Brewmaster, and Made-from-Scratch Food
MINNEAPOLIS, June 12, 2001 - Founders Food & Firkins Ltd., (Nasdaq: GCFBU) ("Founders") announced today that construction for the Fargo, North Dakota location of the Company's third Granite City Food & Brewery restaurant and microbrewery is now underway. The Fargo Granite City Food & Brewery is located at the Southwest corner of the West Acres Mall, near the corner of 42nd Street and 17th Avenue. The location is the premier retail and commercial corridor in eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota and the restaurant will be within easy walking distance of several major hotels, a multiplex movie theatre and other entertainment venues, and scores of retail outlets. Granite City Food & Brewery features hand-crafted beers and made-from-scratch foods. The Fargo location is scheduled to be open in the fourth quarter of 2001.
"We are extremely excited about our Fargo site," said Steve Wagenheim, Founders president and CEO. "Given the excellent traffic volume and superb location in the heart of the West Acres shopping and retail corridor, this may prove to be our most successful opening and operation, providing even more customers an opportunity to enjoy our great beers and food. We are very pleased to join the successful and thriving greater Red River Valley community."
Wagenheim also noted that the Fargo location's opening marks the culmination of the second phase of the Company's strategic plan. Concept development was the first phase, establishing three regional locations was the second and the third phase will be an expanded rollout of Granite City Food & Brewery locations within specific targeted markets.
Founder's first Granite City location, in St. Cloud, Minn., opened in late June 1999. Its second location opened in Sioux Falls on December 18, 2000 and enjoyed rave reviews from diners and local, regional and national media.
Granite City provides fresh, high quality, made-to-order food and handcrafted beers, both made on site. Granite City offers a broad menu of traditional and regional foods served in generous portions at reasonable prices, designed to offer customers an excellent value and pleasant dining experience.
